Rats! - F*cking with Clusters

About Rats!

Previous Entry Rats! Apr. 7th, 2020 @ 04:34 pm Next Entry

Hee! I have a shiny spreadsheet full of readouts from sliced and frozen rat brains! Not only does this mean I can finally start doing something useful(1) in terms of research, but I get the added bonus of thinking about the rats that getting thrown into water mazes and then having their heads cut up every time I look at it.

(1. So by "useful", I mean a baby step above "useless". There wasn't actually that much data. The world would be a better place if you could keep killing the same rat over and over again)

Why not?

Since entering CS program at OU, I've learned about:
1. glass coating (I didn't know they coated glass, and that there are special coatings for different situations)
2. cardiac surgery (well, primarily figuring out who was going to die or have other problems afterward)
3. neurosurgery (or at least looking at MRI images of human brain tumors)

Its kind of like being an undecided major :)

Oh, and take a necromancy class; then perhaps you can kill the same rat over and over again.

(Somehow you don't strike me as a high-enough level cleric to resurrect rats without lowering their CON.)

I'm trying to find out which paths within the hippocampus are actived when the rats are allowed to have sensory input.

I don't get to see the rats (or the images ... some poor postdoc got stuck with the image processing), but I've got some snazzy columns of numbers.
