Memeriffic - F*cking with Clusters

I find this meme very very hard for some reason. I wonder if I've become a little too good at skimming input for information and discarding the rest. I tend to notice background detail for as long as it takes to decide how essential the detail is the movie/journal/book outline in my head. If its relatively unimportant, I discard it. I certainly couldn't confidently identify half of these movies based on these keywords, though I did try to pick at least one keyword that was pretty major in the movie:

  1. Rube Goldberg / Cello / Butcher: amoken
  2. Science Runs Amok / Steampunk / Liberty: amoken
  3. Messiah / Cryogenics / Man Ape: porfinn
  4. Wooden Eye / Cannon / Jamaica: bobbzman
  5. Steampunk / Environmental / Giant Insect: rifhutch
  6. Zorro / Orgasm / Good Deed: bobbzman
  7. Breaking The Fourth Wall / Taxes / Chastity Belt: bobbzman
  8. Hungarian / Massacre / Police Lineup: maerdi
  9. Coma / Mother Daughter Relationship / Righteous Rage: bobbzman
  10. Nazi / Green Horse / Waiter: mbrubeck

I'm also a tad disappointed that the term "steampunk" didn't come up more :-)

Mission: watch more movies with the keyword "steampunk".

Oh dear. On every other list I have known at least three without even having to think about it. Yours are going to be very tricky. I might have to poke through the IMDB. But, my guess, is that some of this is anime-- good stuff, but not necessarily something I watch much of.

Hint

There is exactly one animé movie on there. There is one other movie with an animated bit in the middle.

2. has got to be 2001. Yea! Arthur C. Clarke. One of these days I'm going to get to see it! But I refuse to watch it on a t.v. I keep hoping arclight will show it.

"There is one other movie with an animated bit in the middle."

That sounds like Kill Bill, Vol. 1, which must be #9.

3. The Time Machine? I haven't seen the original, but this sounds familiar.
4. Sounds like a pirate movie. I'll guess Pirates of the Carribean.
7. Robin Hood: Men in Tights

3. No. These keywords are likely the most obscure, though :-)

Oh..I feel better. I think I have one without looking (but it was kind of like L's "flamethrower" and, amusingly, by the same guy).
7. Men in Tights (tight tights!)

8 must surely be The Usual Suspects. 4 and 7 were the other ones I knew right away, but they've already been guessed; 9 I knew as soon as you gave it away ;) (but 'twas also guessed before I got here).

I feel like I ought to know 1, but I've got nothing right now.

Man, 4 and 7 were the only ones I found easy! I'll have to try harder.

1. Delicatessen! Yum!
2. Brazil? Serenity? I REALLY don't understand the term "steampunk". I just looked it up to see if those even counted (and what movies you need to see more of), and The Elephant Man, Quills, and a bunch of other stuff are listed. Wonky.
6. One of the umpteen bajillion Zorro movies! :P
8. The Usual Suspects!

...
I knew I should've gotten 3. I feel like I should know 9, but I also feel like I've seen about 20 movies that fit at least two of those keywords.

According to dictionary.com, steampunk is: "a genre of science fiction set in Victorian times when steam was the main source of machine power". The Elephant Man and Quills are not science fiction. Looks like it's not me who's confused about the definition; it's the people assigning keywords!

Right. Cool, that's more the sense I had of it. Which still means that those who labeled Elephant Man and Quills were smoking crack....

5 is Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind

I thought 10 was Top Secret, but upon reflection I think that was a speckled cow and not a green horse.
