About Upcoming Concerts

Previous Entry Upcoming Concerts Aug. 13th, 2027 @ 02:59 pm Next Entry
Have tickets for:

  • 9/14 : Jonathan Coulton (with Paul & Storm from Da Vinci's Notebook) at the Great American Music Hall in SF. Currently going with pabw, ejwu and probably? garlikmongere.
  • 9/29 : TMBG at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz (Tickets). Currently going with pabw. I can provide crash space in SC.
  • 10/6 : Download Festival at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, featuring The Cure. Currently going with krchicken and stalkingmsd. We can provide crash space in MV afterwards if thats an issue.
  • 11/2 : Nightwish at Slim's in SF. I know some other people were interested in going, but I'm not sure who if anyone has tickets yet.

If any of these sound good, or you're already going, ping me if you want to meet up. I definitely want to see more live music now that I'll be living in the Bay Area with free time on my hands, so suggestions are welcome. Also, if you're interested in anything at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz after September, I'm almost certain to be up for walking across the street to join you :-)

On a related musical note, Wycelf Jean gave an amazing performance at Google today. I didn't care about the Fugees one way or another when they were popular, and that's partly why I'd written this guy off as just another washed up R&B singer. It turns out that he's incredibly intelligent, well-spoken, and he can freestyle beyond belief. The video isn't up on YouTube yet, but I recommend you all to keep an eye out for it.

(I need a better music icon than "iPod ad Avani")

Argh, the TMBG show is the same day as a) my 10 year high school reunion and b) a wedding. Why must everything happen that weekend?

I think...if enough people want to go see Nightwish live, I will go. I am undecided about the new singer, edging on disappointed. I may be able to convince yami83 to go as well (not sure if you know her).

Samples here: http://www.nightwish.com/en/files/audio
The top four (Eva and up) are post-singer-firing. At least 3 of them feature Anette, the new singer.

That's true. It certainly can't be bad or boring. And I just checked to make sure I'm not still at a conference that day, and it ends the day before! I will likely go.

JC - awesome! I can never plan that far in advance, but a week or two before I'll check whether I can make it. Do you think tix will still be available then?

My guess is "yes", though I bet if they sell out anywhere it'll be Silicon Valley.
