They also have an exhibit on Edmund Gorey's Dracula.

The museum is open from 11-5 Tue-Sun. I'd like to go Saturday afternoon.

Very well, so far. I've been busy this week catching up from some time off, but I'm really enjoying learning about areas of CS I've been ignoring.

I am incredibly envious that you get to go see the Dracula exhibit. I hope you can take pictures. And show them to me.

Although I suppose it evens out. neoredsonja and I are going to NYC to see The Wolves in the Walls performance.

You look so much like your sister in that icon.

I'll try for pictures if they're allowed.

I actually wasn't too thrilled with the book there, even though I first heard it at a reading by Gaiman (and no, I'm not just saying that :-) )

You look so much like your sister in that icon.

I'm flattered ;-)

I'd love to go, if I was up there; I've been a fan of Gorey since I watching Mystery! on PBS when I was in high school. (Inspector Morse, Adam Dalgliesh, David Suchet's Poirot and Jeremy Brett's incomparable Sherlock Holmes -- happy memories, all.) If you've never seen it, check out the Edward Gorey animation that opened the show here.

Yeah, some of them were pretty creepy, especially the Holmes stories and a couple of the Dalglieshes -- Devices and Desires stands out in my memory as especially chilling. I found most of the Morse mysteries more intriguing than scary, but Service For All the Dead creeped me out -- and may also have been the best plot in that series. I recall that it aired during a pledge drive, and right after the first episode Robert Aubry-Davis came on and chuckled something to the effect of, "So now we're all wondering who the killer is," and I said, "The heck with that, I'm still wondering who the victim is!" (The initial identification of the first of the several corpses turns out to be false -- a transposition of the murderer and victim's identities that has Morse confused until the last ten minutes of the film.)

The other ones I recall as good nightmare fodder were the "Prime Suspect" series, which was probably the most realistic and gritty of all the shows and specialized in extremely nasty serial killers, and the stand-alone Mother Love, with Diana Rigg as the poisonous (and poisoning) control-freak Helena Vesey.

I have to pack during the afternoon, but if you don't have plans for the evening yet, I was thinking about going to Writers with Drinks. I'd also be up for dinner.
